Vacation Bible School

It's that time of the year!
I just got back from a VBS Meeting at First Baptist, and it's going to be another great week for our kids.
There's plenty of jobs for willing workers, including:
- Tour Guides - these people are assigned to a specific group of kids, and they stay with that group as it travels to all the different areas (Bible Study, Music, Crafts, and so on).
- Registration - They always need extra hands on the first two nights to get all those kiddos signed-up. This is a shorter assignment, usually you can leave after the first hour or so.
- Crafts - Like last year, our church is in charge of the Craft Room! We'll need lots of hands to make it work, so sign up now!
VBS will be Sunday-Thursday, July 8-12, in the evenings. Mark your calendars and we'll see you there!

Hypocrisy
Our Forum discussion this Sunday will be over Matthew 21-23,which includes a polemic against the Pharisees for their hypocrisy.
In my study of this passage, I came across this quote by Stanley Hauerwas:
Now what do you think of that?

In my study of this passage, I came across this quote by Stanley Hauerwas:
"We should remember that hypocrisy is morally ambiguous. The hypocrite at least keeps alive what they and we should be. Indeed, hypocrisy can be considered a moral achievement because hypocrites are just truthful enough to have the resources to condemn themselves."
Now what do you think of that?

Wednesday Book Group
If you've been wanting to read with the Book Group but haven't had time to discuss each week, you may find our summer format interesting. We will read books in their entirety over a month and then gather when the book is completed to discuss it in its entirety. We'll begin with our next book: Anne Tyler's Ladder of Years. We will meet this week to receive our new book, and then we'll gather June 6th to discuss it. We invite you to join us!
