Thank You
Thank you for allowing me time off this past weekend. We had a wonderful time celebrating mom's 70th birthday and reunioning with her side of the family.

On Sunday morning, we worshipped in Friedens Church, the church our mother was baptized and confirmed in as a little girl. Or, as brother Richard put it, we worshipped in "the bosom of our maternal ecclesiastical heritage."
This church was begun by german immigrants who moved to Brenham, including my ancestors. Mom remembers that when she was little they were still conducting some services in German.

"Friedens" - Friends. Isn't that what church is all about? We come together to worship, yes, but we also come together to know that we are not alone in this world. We form relationships, friendships, and know that we have a community of faith - a family - that will travel the journey of life and faith with us.

Oh - and one more thing: you think it's been hot here??? We worshipped Sunday morning with no A/C - just open windows and fans.
And somehow . . . it was wonderful!
So thank you,
Tracy
