Guest Preacher
I'm excited to announce that we will have a guest preacher in the pulpit on Sunday, October 28, at 10:30.
Rick McClatchy is a dear friend from my Oklahoma days. He is now the Coordinator for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Texas. When I heard he was going to be in the area I knew I wanted you to meet and hear him.
Rick represents a group of Baptists who are learning how to do ministry in new ways. He told me, "We no longer talk about 'joining a denomination.' Instead, we emphasize partnering with different groups to accomplish ministry in the world." He recognizes that churches have unique ways of wanting to do ministry; no two churches are the same. These days, churches pick and choose their relationships and their ministry partners.
Rick will share with us about some exciting ministry opportunities that are happening in Texas. In particular, he will speak about KidsHeart, a ministry with children in the poorest counties in Texas. I believe we'll find his stories challenging and encouraging.
I know you'll extend to Rick a warm welcome.
