Mission Trip Report - Tuesday Night
Quick tonight - we're pretty exhausted.
Today's sports camp had almost twice as many kids as Monday's. The theme for the day was baseball, and the heat felt much more like El Paso should feel. Great morning.
After lunch, the whole gang - all the kids and grown-ups from FBC Levelland, FBC Hereford, FOB, 2nd Baptist Lubbock, and the Arizona group went to the construction site. We were supposed to put down shingles, but the heat made that an impossible task. The kids spent time hammering up plywood on the outside of the house, and painting the eaves.
Inside, Merle and Jaime rehung the electrical boxes a third time. They're learning that electricians have a very exact way of doing things - and that they're not all that sure they want to share their information with a bunch of amateurs.

Rob found himself working with Kyle and Josh and Stoney from FBC Hereford digging the trench for the electric conduit. They were less than thrilled to find concrete about 8 inches down. Needless to say, there's still more digging to do tomorrow.
Tracy found herself behind the camera most of the day, primarily because progress was behind. Tasks we hoped to complete today we now hope to begin tomorrow. Things like sheetrock and insulation must wait for the electrician to sign-off on the work we've done and . . . well . . . he hasn't.

This is the other side of mission work. Things don't always go as planned. There was still plenty for us to do, but this group will leave on Thursday not quite as far along as they had hoped to be. The house will not be done. We will have to trust that another group will come behind us - and perhaps another one after that - to finish what we must leave undone. Perhaps there's a lesson in there for all of us?
Don't forget there are lots more pictures, just click HERE.
We just have one more workday tomorrow before we head home Thursday. We're looking forward to seeing familiar faces and returning to our routine. We can't wait to share more stories with you,
Tracy
