Mission Trip Report, Monday
If I told you I passed a digital thermometer sign this afternoon that read 113 degrees, would you believe me??? Hoo Boy, it's hot up here!
Which is why we arrived to the work site at 6 am this morning, ate an early lunch, put one more hour in, and called it quits around 1 p.m. It just gets too hot at that point to do much else.
Today we began shingling the Habitat house. At least, Josh and the boys from First Baptist shingled. Merle and I were on "please pull everything out and reorganize my trailers because it hasn't been done in two years" duty. We decided that being on the roof looked a lot more glamorous - and cool: at least THEY had a breeze.
And, for those who were wondering, Anna and Aaron were on "please stay out of the way and go fetch this item and take this empty box to the dumpster" duty. They were a little disappointed we didn't let them on the roof, but we had a remarkable amount of common sense at 6 a.m. this morning.

Merle spent the rest of the afternoon in the dorm reading while the rest of us cooled off in a church member's swimming pool. Supper this evening was burgers at Richard's house, and Merle and I were quite impressed with our culinary skills, thank you very much!

We'll hit the sack soon because 6 a.m. will come early again tomorrow. On Tuesday we hope to finish shingling and do the "soffits" (?) Merle and I will continue to sort the 1,576,893 nails that Richard had mixed together in the back of his trailer.

Keep praying for a cool breeze!
