Mid-Week Minute

Hi friends,

A quick update on two of our friends. Joe Henry continues to improve at Northwest Rehab and is hopefully coming home soon. He had a minor set-back on Tuesday but is still working his way toward recovery.

Bob Gauthreaux looked much stronger on Monday. As Nan says, he has good days and bad days, and we're hoping for more good days. He continues to be at Triumph Hospital in Amarillo, ICU Bed 1.

If you hadn't heard yet, the White Elephant Sale was a huge success! We raised over $800 for our Relay for Life team! Thanks for all the help - and there was lots of it - that made our sale such a grand triumph! I saw lots of folks doing lots of jobs the week of and the day of the sale. And, of course, we couldn't have done it without the great donations. What a great effort from lots of hard workers!

Next Wednesday is our time to serve communion at Hereford Care Center. I want to encourage you to carve a little time out of your day and join me there at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5th. It's a wonderful ministry and you will be blessed by your time with our neighbors.

This week in Forum we will finish our discussion of "Theology 101." We had quite a lively discussion last week as we learned how to use Scripture, Tradition, Reason, and Experience to help us understand how God works in the world. This Sunday we'll look at the many different lenses that theologians are using to view God's work in the world. I invite you to share with us this Sunday at 9:30.

Worship this Sunday will feature another Congregation Choice Sermon. This time, we'll share Psalm 103. It's also a Communion Sunday, so don't forget to bring those canned goods for the Hereford Food Pantry.
I'm praying for you this week. I'm praying that wisdom will be your partner as you walk through this day, as you make decisions and as you share conversations. May God speak to us and through us --

Tracy
