Walking Toward Sunday
I want you to be praying for Mike Solomon's brother as he seeks cancer treatment in Houston.
UPDATE: Anna sent me an email Thursday morning reporting that the surgery scheduled for Thursday is incredibly serious. Please be in prayer today. As well, Pat and Suzie fully expect the arrival of their granddaughter on Thursday as well.
As well, we've received word that Jack Weston's brother Mack is significantly ill with cancer. Please pray for him.
Wendel is continuing to improve at HRMC. He needs our love and support, as does Merle.
PRAYER UPDATE: Please remember David and Carolyn McDonald. David recently had another skin graft on his leg and they are hoping that this one takes. They return to the doctor on Friday.
Our discussion in FORUM on "Family Systems Theory" for congregations has been quiet interesting and informative. We've learned about differentiation and balance and triangles. This week we begin looking specifically how the theory is applicable to churches. Consider this thought from Peter Steinke. What does it say about the church?:
In worship we will hear the wonderful story of Jesus at the Wedding in Cana, when he turns water to wine. The story begins this way:

Illness and health are not opposites. They are complements. We need not view disease as something that should not happen nor interpret it as a sign of weakness. . . . If the body's balance was never tested by disease, it would never develop the immune system. . . . Well before the practice of vaccination, physicians knew that people who had an infection once recovered more quickly if infected again. These people were said to have "wise blood."
In worship we will hear the wonderful story of Jesus at the Wedding in Cana, when he turns water to wine. The story begins this way:
On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine gave out, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine." And Jesus said to her, "Woman, what concern is that to you and to me? My hour has not yet come." His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."Let us be in prayer for the people of Haiti and for those who are sent to help relieve their incredible crisis. Lord, have mercy.
