A Window into Haiti

You have heard me speak many times of my friend and colleague Dawn Darwin Weaks who co-pastors a Disciples Church in Missouri with her husband. The three of us were in seminary together.

Dawn and Joe have had a long partnership with a group of missionaries in Haiti. They have housed the missionaries (Kim and Patrick) during their furlough time in the states and their church has sent two different mission teams to work with the missionaries in Haiti.

You can imagine, this has been a terrifying week for Dawn and Joe and their congregation as they awaited word from Kim and Patrick. Thankfully, the missionaries survived, along with their Haitian son that they are in the process of adopting. Sadly, many of the Haitians they worked with, including the nursing students they were training, were killed.

Here is a link to their website where you can read about their experience this week. Perhaps this will give you a face to pray for in the midst of this enormous tragedy. And as we walk forward in prayer and action, I would certainly trust this to be a legitimate, worthy recipient of any monitary donations we wish to make.
