Wow, It's Wednesday!
Hard to believe we're already 6 days into a new year! Time flies quickly, doesn't it?
Lajean and I enjoyed serving communion to the folks at Hereford Care Center today. We had a conversation with their Activities Director, and she will be contacting us so that we can begin helping them celebrate the birthdays of their residents. This is one of the new goals that we chose for the coming year; it's exciting to see another step of ministry beginning in our community.
Speaking of our coming year, it's time for a new Administrator and Secretary to be chosen to serve. Mike Solomon and Carla Purcella have served us so incredibly well this year. They have been a joy to work with, always willing to go the extra step and to do what needed to be done. I know that two new folks will be coming forward soon, and I know we all will step up to work with them to make it a great 2010!
A word of thanks to the undecorators, those who willingly did that less-enjoyable task of taking down the beauty of Christmas! Special thanks to the team who helped, led by Carla and Natalie! Great job, gang!
I had a good visit with Wendel on Tuesday. He is getting stronger every day and is looking forward to the moment when they say he can go home. Estell is adjusting well to her new room at Kings Manor Westgate; why don't you drop her a note or go by and say "hi"? While you're there, be sure to check in on Clint - he has some great stories to tell of his Christmas time with his kids.
We are so blessed to have such a strong network of love and support in our congregation. Let us continue to reach out and beyond ourselves, looking for those folks who need a friend. This is the best church I know anything about . . . don't you agree?
