Happy Hump Day!
Hope your Wednesday went well! Just two more days to the weekend!
On Wednesday evening the church met to hear a report from the Administrative Team. A few weeks ago the team met with me to discuss the budget shortfall the church has been experiencing over the last few years. Together we determined that the best solution was to recommend to the church that I take a salary cut, with the understanding that I would seek additional employment to supplement the loss. We shared this decision with the church on Wednesday night and they agreed and approved the recommendation.
My new, other job is with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hereford. I am a Match Specialist, and my duties will include meeting with Bigs and Students to make sure their match is going well. I'll be on the clock for BBBS Mon-Thurs, 8:30 - 3:00. Evenings and Fridays I will work from home on FOB tasks. Please know that you can still call whenever you need me. If I can't take your call at that moment, I'll return it as soon as possible. I recommend you call my cell phone (346-2121) or, if less urgent, leave a message for me at home (364-9465.)
Don't forget the Beans and Chili lunch THIS SUNDAY after worship! Bring a dessert, the rest will be provided. A basket will be available for donations, and the collection will go to shore-up our building fund for repairs as they become necessary. It's aways good to have a little piled away for a rainy day! It'll be a fun time of fellowship - I hope to see you there.
This Sunday we will also have in worship a guest speaker from Gideon's International to share with us the work they do distributing Bibles all over the world. The Gideon speaker will be in the foyer after worship should you wish to make a personal contribution to their ministry.
My new duties at BBBS will make it more difficult for me to serve Communion at Hereford Care Center, but I think it's very important that we keep that ministry going! Don't you? Who will be available next Wednesday, March 2nd, from 9:45 - 10:30? It takes so little, it means so much. I will be praying that there are several of you who want to step forward and own this ministry.

Book Group! We meet next Tuesday at 7 p.m. to discuss The Great Gatsby. I've found the language of this book to be very different from more modern novels; how about you? Our next book will be available at the meeting. It is Major Pettigrew's Last Stand. We will discuss it on April 5th. You can read a little about it here. Copies will be $10. (For those of you with Kindles or Nooks, I think it costs a little less in electronic form.)
There is lots going on for all of us, but it's important for us to keep our focus on serving God. I think Sunday's message will be particularly timely for you and me:

So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today's trouble is enough for today.I'll see you Sunday,
